Transforming our Impact
Judge Ed Emmett

Neighbors in Action, a missions ministry of First Houston United Methodist Church, cordially invites you to the fourth annual Transforming Lives Luncheon on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Junior League of Houston.

Since 1995, Neighbors in Action has been a steadfast partner to the resilient Port Houston community, providing spiritual guidance, educational resources, and emergency assistance through our neighborhood community center. This year’s event features distinguished guest speaker Judge Ed Emmett, whose extensive leadership as County Judge of Harris County and current fellowship at Rice University’s Baker Institute offer a profound perspective on strengthening community resilience and emergency preparedness.

The urgency of our mission has grown following the HISD Board’s decision to close Port Houston Elementary School, a long-standing pillar for local families. In the wake of this closure, Neighbors in Action is prepared to fill the void, serving as the primary hub where the community can gather, seek support, and remain connected. We invite you to join us as a featured sponsor to help sustain and expand these vital services. Sponsors receive priority seating, table reservations, and special recognition during the program. More importantly, your partnership provides the essential resources needed to empower an underserved community and create a lasting, life-changing impact for families rebuilding their futures.
