Genuine Kinship
At Neighbors In Action (Vecinos en Acción), we believe that hope is something people practice together. Our work is not about handing out quick fixes to "clients"; it is about walking alongside our neighbors in a spirit of shared community and mutual respect.
We are guided by the belief that true compassion lies in our willingness to see ourselves in kinship with one another. For over 30 years, we have shown up in ordinary, faithful ways, trusting that a consistent presence builds the trust and stability families need to thrive.

We approach community transformation holistically, ensuring our programs support local families at every stage of life.
Nurturing
Spiritual Growth
We create sacred, welcoming spaces where children, youth, and adults can grow in their relationship with God and on another. From weekly multi-generational Bible studies and youth fellowship nights to specialized retreats, we connect faith with lived action.
Opening Doors through Education
We believe education it the framework needed for tomorrow. By offering afterschool academic support, literacy camps, youth leadership opportunities, and adult vocational and ESL classes, we open the way to a brighter, more independent future.
Providing Stability by Meeting Basic Needs
A strong community is built on stable foundation. We help families weather life's unexpected storms by coordinating essential food distributions, providing emergency rent and utility assistance, offering affordable on-site mental health counseling, and hosting vibrant community celebrations.

Whether you want to enroll your child in our afterschool programs, attend a parent workshop, learn a new skill in an adult class, or access support during a tough time, we welcome you with open arms.
For First Houston UMC & Faith Partners
Our roots run deep. What began as a small, faithful group at First Houston United Methodist Church has grown into a vital cornerstone of East Houston. We continue to expand Christian community through collaborative ministries, summer Vacation Bible Camps, and seasonal food box donations. Your continuous prayers, shared fellowship, and foundational support remain a vital heartbeat of this ministry.
