NEIGHBORS IN ACTION
Who We Are
VECINOS EN ACCION
Welcome To Our Community
Neighbors In Action (Vecinos en Acción) is a faith-based non-profit organization dedicated to transforming lives and building a brighter future in Houston, Texas. What began as a small group at First Houston United Methodist Church has blossomed into a vital community cornerstone.
For over 30 years, we have walked alongside families in port Houston and surrounding east Houston neighborhoods, practicing a slow, faithful work of accompaniment and ensuring that every neighbor feels a true sense of belonging.
Neighbors In Action isn't a place where help is simply handed out to "clients", it is a community entirely shaped by genuine kinship and deep relationship. We belong to one another, and that truth carries us forward.
Today, our mission comes to life every day at our community center, located at 7921 Flaxman St, Houston, TX 77029.

Our Roots
Neighbors In Action was born out of a shared vision to be the hands and feet of Jesus right here in our local community. We operate in close partnership with First Houston United Methodist Church, an alliance rooted in a mutual commitment to love, serve, and uplift our city.
Through this foundational connection, we combine spiritual growth, with practical action. Together, we work to transform lives across the Post Houston area and surrounding neighborhoods, not just by meeting basic needs, but by walking alongside local families, investing in education, and cultivating a community where everyone can thrive. We are proud to put God's love into real, tangible action alongside the First Houston UMC family

"Little N I A"
A Legacy of Hope
One of our greatest signs of hope has been the permanent acquisition of "Little NIA", the four-bedroom residential house we first began renting in 2012 long before our main community center was built. It was a simple space, but it held the very foundation of who we are: children learning to read, families gathering, and trust slowly being built. Today, alongside our main community center right next door, it stands as a lasting sanctuary of learning, faith and belonging.
